Apply to MitM
WinterCamp 2027

We are delighted that you are considering Math in the Mountains. Please read this page carefully before beginning the application.

Admissions for WinterCamp 2027 will be done on a rolling basis. We recommend submitting applications as early as possible before spots on the camp are filled.

Our process is designed to help us understand how your child thinks, not simply what they already know.

Application Overview

For New Applicants

All applicants who have not previously been admitted to an MitM camp, please complete:

Step 1 - Parent/Guardian Form (Part 1)

A short intake form collecting basic family, camper, and school information, and identifying your child’s math background. If your child has not completed any algebra coursework, they will need to complete an algebra skills assessment and upload in Part 1 of the Application Form.

Four Fun Problems (Camper Submission)

After completing Part 1 the first intake forms, applicants will receive a set of Four Fun Problems by email. These are not a speed test — they help us see curiosity, persistence, and problem-solving style. You will upload these Four Fun Problem solutions in Part 2 of the Application Form…

Step 2 - Parent/Guardian Form (Part 2)

A more detailed form about (1) your child’s interests, mathematical experiences, personality, and learning style, (2) housing preferences, and (3) skiing/snowboarding interest and ability. This helps us understand how your child might thrive at MitM.

Possible Conversation

We may schedule a brief video call with the camper to get to know them better.

For Returning Applicants

Returning families complete a shorter form indicating intent to return and interest in Alpha, Omega, or potential Beta consideration. Some campers may be asked to complete the Five Fun Problems again depending on program pathway.

A Note on Readiness

MitM is immersive and intellectually intense. We look for:

  • Curiosity and love of challenging problems

  • Willingness to persist when solutions are not immediate

  • Openness to collaboration and discussion

  • Excitement about outdoor exploration

This is not about being the most advanced mathematically or on — it’s about joyful engagement with deep ideas, courage to try new things.
